Why it’s a Monday Morning Maybe

With a box office flop and almost no lasting buzz, this one could be a tough watch. Keep your phone handy.

Based on critics, audiences, awards, box office and buzz. Details below.

Is it for you?

Who'll love it
A natural pick for anyone who's survived a family wedding and anyone who likes to be kept guessing. Relationships are put under a microscope, for better or worse. A good follow-up to Summer of Soul (...Or, When the Revolution Could Not Be Televised) or The Look of Silence.
The mood
Tense, warm and romantic.
The pace
Moves through the story clearly, at 1 hr 52 min.
What might put you off
  • It's in Spanish, so expect subtitles (or a dub).
  • Skip it if you want made-up drama tonight.

Blanca Luz Brum traveled an unusual path, through twentieth-century Latin America, actively participating in the intellectual, political and artistic movements of Uruguay, Chile, Argentina, Peru and Mexico. It is today a symbol of female emancipation in Latin America. The versions about her life are varied and dissimilar, the testimonies of those who knew her, full of contradictions.
