Is it for you?

Who'll love it
Made for people who like their stories with a little danger and anyone who loves a strong drama. Steeped in the 1980s, from the music to the hair. Shelve it next to Shoplifters or West Side Story.
The mood
Dark and gritty.
The pace
A big, patient story, at 2 hr 30 min.
What might put you off
  • It's long: 2 hr 30 min.
  • It's in Japanese, so expect subtitles (or a dub).
  • Not the one if you want explosions or easy laughs.

In the slums of Osaka, various marginalized misfits have their own interpretations of love. Completely alienated from the outside world, they commit sexual perversions, violence and cannibalism.
