It earned strong reviews (87% on Rotten Tomatoes), though it had almost no lasting buzz and soft box office. A safe bet when you want something reliable.

Based on critics, audiences, awards, box office and buzz. Details below.

Is it for you?

Who'll love it: Made for anyone who wants a laugh. If you loved Hannah and Her Sisters or A Man Called Otto, start here.
The mood: Funny with heart.
The pace: Takes its time with its characters, at 1 hr 32 min.
What might put you off: Rated PG-13. Probably too much for younger kids.
It's in Chinese, so expect subtitles (or a dub).

An aged father and his younger, mentally challenged son have been working hard every day to keep the bathhouse running for a motley group of regular customers. When his elder son, who left years ago to seek his fortune in the southern city of Shenzhen, abruptly returns one day, it once again puts under stress the long-broken father-son ties. Presented as a light-hearted comedy, Shower explores the value of family, friendship, and tradition.
