Why it’s a Monday Morning Maybe

With a box office flop and almost no lasting buzz, this one could be a tough watch. Keep your phone handy.

Based on critics, audiences, awards, box office and buzz. Details below.

Is it for you?

Who'll love it
Aimed squarely at anyone who likes their monsters enormous and fans of a good haunting. The scale is huge: humanity is very much the underdog. A good follow-up to Cloverfield or Godzilla vs. Kong. The scares come from the creaks and shadows as much as the jumps.
The mood
Exciting.
The pace
Lean, with little time wasted, at 1 hr 38 min.
What might put you off
  • It's in Thai, so expect subtitles (or a dub).
  • Made in 1974: an older pace and style.
  • Skip it if you like your stories firmly grounded in the real world.

When aliens steal the Suriyatras diamond and combine it with the power of the sun to make a beam that can destroy the Earth, a robot and an ancient god must join forces and fight the alien invaders to get the diamond back. This film was the first collaboration between Tsuburaya Productions of Japan and Chaiyo Productions of Thailand and is based on the final episodes of the Jumborg Ace TV series
