Why it’s a Monday Morning Maybe

With a box office flop and almost no lasting buzz, this one could be a tough watch. Keep your phone handy.

Based on critics, audiences, awards, box office and buzz. Details below.

Is it for you?

Who'll love it
If you count yourself among anyone who likes corsets, castles and court intrigue and anyone who likes big what-if ideas, this one's for you. The costumes and settings are a feast on their own. Shelve it next to Black Panther or Planet of the Apes.
The mood
Exciting.
The pace
Never drags, at 1 hr 32 min.
What might put you off
  • It's in Italian, so expect subtitles (or a dub).
  • Made in 1968: an older pace and style.
  • Skip it if you like your stories firmly grounded in the real world.

Eve is a jungle girl brought up by apes. She is captured with a number of apes by a mad scientist, conducting mind control experiments on them. Eventually she is liberated by a young explorer.
