Sunday Safe Betearly rating

Why it’s a Sunday Safe Bet

It earned strong reviews (95% on Rotten Tomatoes), though it had almost no lasting buzz and soft box office. A safe bet when you want something reliable.

Based on critics, audiences, awards, box office and buzz. Details below.

Is it for you?

Who'll love it: A natural pick for anyone who likes a story with emotional weight. Best on a quiet night when you're in the mood to feel something. Same wavelength as Nine Queens. More of a critics' pick than a crowd-pleaser: worth it if you like something a little different.
The mood: Thoughtful and character-driven.
The pace: Gives its people room to develop, at 1 hr 45 min.
What might put you off: It's in Spanish, so expect subtitles (or a dub).
Audiences were cooler on it than critics.
Not the one if you want explosions or easy laughs.

While working alongside his long-time friend and colleague in building a hospital for the residents of a Buenos Aries shantytown, a troubled priest finds solace in a young, atheist social worker.
