Why it’s a Monday Morning Maybe

With just 7% on Rotten Tomatoes, a box office flop and almost no lasting buzz, this one could be a tough watch. Keep your phone handy.

Based on critics, audiences, awards, box office and buzz. Details below.

Is it for you?

Who'll love it
Tailor-made for anyone who believes we're not alone and anyone with a bit of wanderlust. The aliens are the hook, but the human reactions are the story. Liked Justice League Dark? This is a good next one. Audiences love it more than critics do: a crowd-pleaser first.
The mood
Feel-good.
The pace
Paced for all ages, at 1 hr 25 min. Done before bedtime.
What might put you off
  • Rated PG-13: peril. Probably too much for younger kids.
  • It's in French, so expect subtitles (or a dub).
  • Critics were cooler on it than audiences.
  • Skip it if you can't get past animation (your loss).

Compelled by a mysterious force, Kaena, a rebellious, high-spirited teenage girl will defy the High Priest and her people's ancestral beliefs to take the perilous journey through the Axis and discover what dark secrets lie beyond the clouds.
