Why it’s a Monday Morning Maybe

With almost no lasting buzz and soft box office, this one could be a tough watch. Keep your phone handy.

Based on critics, audiences, awards, box office and buzz. Details below.

Is it for you?

Who'll love it
If you count yourself among anyone who wants something that moves them and western fans, this one's for you. It's about loss, handled with care rather than melodrama. Fans of 127 Hours should feel right at home. Dust, horses and a showdown waiting to happen.
The mood
Exciting.
The pace
Gives its people room to develop, at 1 hr 33 min.
What might put you off
  • It's in German, so expect subtitles (or a dub).
  • Made in 1930: an older pace and style.
  • Not the one if you want explosions or easy laughs.

Hannes is employed at the Mont Blanc Observatory; the only outside connection is a pilot and Hella over the radio. Hella ascends the mountain but her father dies along the way.
