Sunday Safe BetWhy it’s a Sunday Safe Bet
Critics loved it (90% on Rotten Tomatoes), though it had almost no lasting buzz and soft box office. A safe bet when you want something reliable.
Based on critics, audiences, awards, box office and buzz. Details below. Is it for you?
- Who'll love it
- A natural pick for anyone who wants something that moves them and anyone who loves trying to stay one step ahead. It's about loss, handled with care rather than melodrama. Shelve it next to A Streetcar Named Desire or Nell. More of a critics' pick than a crowd-pleaser: worth it if you like something a little different.
- The mood
- Tense.
- The pace
- Quiet, then quietly devastating, at 1 hr 32 min.
- What might put you off
- Audiences were cooler on it than critics.
- Not the one if you want explosions or easy laughs.
Shotgun Stories tracks a feud that erupts between two sets of half brothers following the death of their father. Set against the cotton fields and back roads of Southeast Arkansas, these brothers discover the lengths to which each will go to protect their family.
