Weeknight WatchWhy it’s a Weeknight Watch
With almost no lasting buzz, it's a mixed bag. Fine if it's on; don't plan your night around it.
Based on critics, audiences, awards, box office and buzz. Details below. Is it for you?
- Who'll love it
- A natural pick for people who love relationship stories and people ready for a good cry. Relationships are put under a microscope, for better or worse. A good follow-up to Avanti! or My Girl. It's about loss, handled with care rather than melodrama.
- The mood
- Funny with heart, romantic.
- The pace
- Lets scenes breathe, at 1 hr 56 min.
- What might put you off
- Rated R: meant for adults.
- It's in Danish, so expect subtitles (or a dub).
- Skip it if you're after something serious tonight.
Ida, a Danish hairdresser who has lost her hair to cancer, returns home from the hospital one day to find her husband is cheating on her. She decides to travel to Italy on her own for her daughter's wedding, but discovers on arriving that the wedding gathering will present its own challenges.
