Weeknight Watchearly rating

Why it’s a Weeknight Watch

With almost no lasting buzz, it's a mixed bag. Fine if it's on; don't plan your night around it.

Based on critics, audiences, awards, box office and buzz. Details below.

Is it for you?

Who'll love it
Great for fans of a good haunting and anyone who likes to be kept guessing. The scares come from the creaks and shadows as much as the jumps. Fans of The Devil's Advocate or Ghost should feel right at home.
The mood
Scary, warm and romantic.
The pace
Tense from early on, at 44 min. Short enough for a weeknight.
What might put you off
  • It's in Italian, so expect subtitles (or a dub).
  • Made in 1917: an older pace and style.
  • Not ideal if you just want to unwind.

A Faustian tale about an old woman who makes a pact with Mephisto to regain her youth, but in return she must stay away from love. After making the deal, she meets two brothers who fall in love with her.
