Why it’s a Monday Morning Maybe

With almost no lasting buzz and soft box office, this one could be a tough watch. Keep your phone handy.

Based on critics, audiences, awards, box office and buzz. Details below.

Is it for you?

Who'll love it
Aimed squarely at anyone who likes secrets inside secrets and people who'll be humming afterwards. Nobody is quite who they seem. A good follow-up to Behind the Candelabra. The music is woven into the story, not just laid on top.
The mood
Warm and romantic.
The pace
Lets scenes breathe, at 1 hr 38 min.
What might put you off
  • It's in French, so expect subtitles (or a dub).
  • Skip it if romance makes you roll your eyes.

Paulo, a young pianist, meets Ilir, a double-bass player originally from Albania. It's love at first sight. Confronted by Anka, Paulo finds himself out on the street. Despite Ilir's misgivings, Paulo moves in with him. One day, when Paulo promises that he will love Ilir for the rest of his life, Ilir leaves the city and doesn't return. A few days later, Paulo finds out that Ilir is in jail, and the two lovers embark on an heart-breaking relationship.
