Why it’s a Monday Morning Maybe

With almost no lasting buzz and soft box office, this one could be a tough watch. Keep your phone handy.

Based on critics, audiences, awards, box office and buzz. Details below.

Is it for you?

Who'll love it
One for anyone who remembers how big everything felt at sixteen and romantics. It gets the awkwardness and the high stakes of being young. Same wavelength as Sixteen Candles or Clueless. The chemistry carries it.
The mood
Light and funny, romantic.
The pace
Breezy, at 1 hr 27 min. It jumps around in time, so stay with it.
What might put you off
  • It's in Italian, so expect subtitles (or a dub).
  • Not the pick if you want something heavy or meaningful.

Matteo and Piterone, lifelong friends, try to pass their high school exams for the third time, but then Margherita arrives and love enters their lives. Muccino's debut film.
