Why it’s a Monday Morning Maybe

With a box office flop and almost no lasting buzz, this one could be a tough watch. Keep your phone handy.

Based on critics, audiences, awards, box office and buzz. Details below.

Is it for you?

Who'll love it
If you count yourself among anyone who likes watching someone settle a score and people who love a good family story, this one's for you. A revenge story, so expect the pressure to build to a reckoning. A good follow-up to Kill Bill: The Whole Bloody Affair or Scarface. Anyone with siblings or parents will recognize something here.
The mood
Dark and gritty.
The pace
Character-first and patient, at 1 hr 51 min.
What might put you off
  • It's in another language, so expect subtitles (or a dub).
  • Skip it if you like your heroes clean-cut.

A modern-day version of the biblical legend of Cain and Abel, the strong-willed matriarch Señora Pina favors her younger son, Ellis, over the older Lorenzo, whom she blames for her husband's death.
