Why it’s a Monday Morning Maybe

With a box office flop and almost no lasting buzz, this one could be a tough watch. Keep your phone handy.

Based on critics, audiences, awards, box office and buzz. Details below.

Is it for you?

Who'll love it
Aimed squarely at anyone who likes to solve it before the characters do and people who like their stories with a little danger. It plays fair with the clues, so you can play along. Sits nicely alongside River's Edge or Cop Land.
The mood
Tense, dark and gritty.
The pace
Quiet, then quietly devastating, at 1 hr 43 min.
What might put you off
  • It's in Swedish, so expect subtitles (or a dub).
  • Made in 1960: an older pace and style.
  • Skip it if you like your heroes clean-cut.

Sam Persson is released from a mental hospital. He goes to Stockholm to meet a man he hates, theater manager Stig Brender. In Brender's office they get into a fight...
