Why it’s a Monday Morning Maybe

Based on critics, audiences, awards, box office and buzz. Details below. Is it for you?
- Who'll love it
- Tailor-made for anyone who loves a story about hope against the odds and people who like their stories with a little danger. The walls close in, and so does the tension. If you loved The Shawshank Redemption or Cool Hand Luke, start here.
- The mood
- Dark and gritty.
- The pace
- Takes its time with its characters, at 1 hr 5 min. An easy one to fit in on a school night.
- What might put you off
- Made in 1930: an older pace and style.
- Skip it if you need something light and fast tonight.
Civilian Mary Dane and falsely imprisoned Bud Leonard love each other. Lou Rinaldo, who framed Bud to get Mary, and escape-minded King Callahan want to keep him in stir, but convict Bertie and the others, even including the Warden, set events in motion to prove that love and justice will prevail. NB: Prisoner numbers given in lieu of character names in many cast lists for this film do not match the numbers shown on the characters' uniforms, when these can be seen at all, and are not used in dialogue at all.
