Monday Morning Maybeearly ratingWhy it’s a Monday Morning Maybe
With a box office flop and almost no lasting buzz, this one could be a tough watch. Keep your phone handy.
Based on critics, audiences, awards, box office and buzz. Details below. Is it for you?
- Who'll love it
- One for anyone interested in what war does to people and fans of a well-timed joke. It puts you in the middle of the fighting, and doesn't let you forget the cost. Sits nicely alongside The Holdovers or Jojo Rabbit.
- The mood
- Funny with heart.
- The pace
- Lets scenes breathe, at 1 hr 40 min.
- What might put you off
- It's in another language, so expect subtitles (or a dub).
- Not the pick if you want something heavy or meaningful.
The time is 1945-46. 10 year old Eda and his friend Tonda live in a small village outside Prague. In school, their class is so wild and indisciplined that their teacher quits and is replaced by the militant Igor Hnidzo. He is very strict – but also very fair. His weakness though, is his interest in young women.
