Why it’s a Friday Night Flick

Critics loved it (100% on Rotten Tomatoes) and it drew serious awards attention. Make plans for this one.

Based on critics, audiences, awards, box office and buzz. Details below.

Who'll love it: One for spy-story fans and anyone with a complicated family (so, everyone). Nobody is quite who they seem. More of a critics' pick than a crowd-pleaser: worth it if you like something a little different.
The mood: Feel-good.
The pace: Paced for all ages, at 1 hr 40 min.
What might put you off: No age rating on record, so check it first for young kids.
It's in Chinese, so expect subtitles (or a dub).
Audiences were cooler on it than critics.
Skip it if you need something light and fast tonight.

During the late 1990s, a busy working-class Singaporean couple hires a Filipino woman as a maid and nanny to their young son.
