Sunday Safe Bet

Why it’s a Sunday Safe Bet

It earned strong reviews (82% on Rotten Tomatoes), though it had almost no lasting buzz and soft box office. A safe bet when you want something reliable.

Based on critics, audiences, awards, box office and buzz. Details below.

Is it for you?

Who'll love it
If you count yourself among music lovers and anyone in the mood for a love story, this one's for you. The music is woven into the story, not just laid on top. Same wavelength as Maurice. Critics like it more than audiences, which usually means it takes its time or takes risks.
The mood
Warm and romantic.
The pace
Quiet, then quietly devastating, at 1 hr 29 min. An easy one to fit in on a school night.
What might put you off
Not the one if you want explosions or easy laughs.

San Francisco, 1985. Two opposites attract at a modern dance company. Together, their courage and resilience are tested as they navigate a world full of risks and promise, against the backdrop of a disease no one seems to know anything about.
