Weeknight Watchearly ratingWhy it’s a Weeknight Watch
With soft box office and little lasting buzz, it's a mixed bag. Fine if it's on; don't plan your night around it.
Based on critics, audiences, awards, box office and buzz. Details below. Is it for you?
- Who'll love it
- One for anyone who loves a story about hope against the odds and anyone with a complicated family (so, everyone). The walls close in, and so does the tension. Family ties get tested in ways that ring true.
- The mood
- Darkly funny.
- The pace
- Zips along, at 1 hr 24 min. Short enough for a weeknight.
- What might put you off
- It's in another language, so expect subtitles (or a dub).
- Skip it if you're after something serious tonight.
A story of Mike, just out of prison, and his buddies throwing a Christmas party under the most obscure circumstances is filled with juicy dialogue and plot twists that will definitely make your jaw drop – and have you chuckle for days after.
