Why it’s a Monday Morning Maybe

With almost no lasting buzz and soft box office, this one could be a tough watch. Keep your phone handy.

Based on critics, audiences, awards, box office and buzz. Details below.

Is it for you?

Who'll love it
Aimed squarely at armchair detectives and people who love a good growing-up story. The investigation drives everything, one lead at a time. Fans of The Maltese Falcon or The Sheep Detectives should feel right at home. Small moments carry real weight here, the way they do when you're young.
The mood
Light and funny, tense.
The pace
Zips along, at 1 hr 8 min. Done before bedtime.
What might put you off
  • Made in 1939: an older pace and style.
  • Skip it if you're after something serious tonight.

While participating in a contest at a local newspaper in which high school students are asked to submit a news story, Nancy Drew intercepts a real story assignment concerning the death of a woman who was poisoned. Nancy doesn't think the young woman accused of the crime is guilty and corrals her neighbor Ted into searching for a vital piece of evidence and stumbles onto the identity of the real killer.
