Why it’s a Weeknight Watch

With soft box office and little lasting buzz, it's a mixed bag. Fine if it's on; don't plan your night around it.

Based on critics, audiences, awards, box office and buzz. Details below.

Is it for you?

Who'll love it: Great for anyone who loves watching the truth get chased down and music lovers. It's about the digging, and what it costs to get the story. Fans of Top Hat or His Girl Friday should feel right at home. The music is woven into the story, not just laid on top.
The mood: Light and funny, romantic.
The pace: Light on its feet, at 1 hr 24 min. An easy one to fit in on a school night.
What might put you off: Made in 1935: an older pace and style.
Skip it if you're after something serious tonight.

At a Mexican resort, a fast-talking magazine editor woos the dancer he's trashed in print.
