Why it’s a Monday Morning Maybe

With almost no lasting buzz and soft box office, this one could be a tough watch. Keep your phone handy.

Based on critics, audiences, awards, box office and buzz. Details below.

Is it for you?

Who'll love it
Aimed squarely at anyone who loves a story about hope against the odds and anyone who likes a story with emotional weight. The walls close in, and so does the tension. A good follow-up to White Heat or GoodFellas.
The mood
Thoughtful and character-driven.
The pace
Lets scenes breathe, at 1 hr 27 min. An easy one to fit in on a school night.
What might put you off
  • It's in Italian, so expect subtitles (or a dub).
  • Skip it if you need something light and fast tonight.

An embittered penitentiary social worker receives an unwelcome blast from the past when the case file of his father, a convicted murderer who has been emotionally broken by prison life, lands on his desk.
