Why it’s a Monday Morning Maybe
With almost no lasting buzz and soft box office, this one could be a tough watch. Keep your phone handy.
Based on critics, audiences, awards, box office and buzz. Details below. Is it for you?
- Who'll love it
- Right up the alley of politics junkies and history and war-film fans. Power and ambition drive every scene. It puts you in the middle of the fighting, and doesn't let you forget the cost.
- The mood
- Eye-opening.
- The pace
- Well paced for a documentary, at 55 min. An easy one to fit in on a school night.
- What might put you off
- It's in French, so expect subtitles (or a dub).
- Made in 1976: an older pace and style.
- Skip it if you want made-up drama tonight.
Here and Elsewhere takes its name from the contrasting footage it shows of the fedayeen and of a French family watching television at home. Originally shot by the Dziga Vertov Group as a film on Palestinian freedom fighters, Godard later reworked the material alongside Anne-Marie Miéville.
