With a box office flop and almost no lasting buzz, this one could be a tough watch. Keep your phone handy.
Based on critics, audiences, awards, box office and buzz. Details below. Is it for you?
- Who'll love it
- One for anyone curious about anime and fans of giant monsters and bigger battles. The scale is huge: humanity is very much the underdog. Shelve it next to Batman: The Dark Knight Returns, Part 1 or Princess Mononoke. Underneath the tech, it's asking what being human really means.
- The mood
- Feel-good.
- The pace
- Lively and easy to follow, at 1 hr 25 min. Done before bedtime.
- What might put you off
- No age rating on record, so check it first for young kids.
- It's in Japanese, so expect subtitles (or a dub).
- Skip it if you like your stories firmly grounded in the real world.
Following World War V, a global-scale conflict fought with non-nuclear weapons that almost halved the earth's population, the city-nation of Olympus stands as a beacon of hope in a world of chaos.
