Why it’s a Monday Morning Maybe

With almost no lasting buzz and soft box office, this one could be a tough watch. Keep your phone handy.

Based on critics, audiences, awards, box office and buzz. Details below.

Is it for you?

Who'll love it
One for music lovers and anyone who wants a laugh. The music is woven into the story, not just laid on top. If you loved Another Cinderella Story or The Sound of Music, start here.
The mood
Funny with heart.
The pace
Quiet, then quietly devastating, at 1 hr 20 min. Done before bedtime.
What might put you off
  • It's in another language, so expect subtitles (or a dub).
  • Made in 1960: an older pace and style.
  • Skip it if you need something light and fast tonight.

The events in Mahallada duv-duv gap occur in a mahalla — a traditional Uzbek neighborhood — in an old part of Tashkent at a time when big-scale construction works are taking place. The movie humorously depicts the relationships between traditional parents and their modern children.
