Why it’s a Monday Morning Maybe
With a box office flop and almost no lasting buzz, this one could be a tough watch. Keep your phone handy.
Based on critics, audiences, awards, box office and buzz. Details below. Is it for you?
- Who'll love it
- Best for anyone who likes to solve it before the characters do and anyone who wants a laugh. The investigation drives everything, one lead at a time. Shelve it next to The Thin Man or The Nice Guys.
- The mood
- Light and funny.
- The pace
- Light on its feet, at 1 hr 8 min. Short enough for a weeknight.
- What might put you off
- Made in 1962: an older pace and style.
- Skip it if you're after something serious tonight.
Private Eye Bernard Bingbang is hired by old lady Agatha Bungworthy to find her runaway niece Cynthia, heir to the family fortune, before that fortune goes to nasty Uncle Philip. Bingbang’s only clue to the niece’s identity: she has a birthmark that looks like a butterfly right above her left nipple. Naturally, in true Nudie-Cutie fashion, “The Case of the Hidden Butterfly Birthmark” means our hero will have to see numerous naked breasts in order to find the missing heiress.
