Why it’s a Monday Morning Maybe

With almost no lasting buzz and soft box office, this one could be a tough watch. Keep your phone handy.

Based on critics, audiences, awards, box office and buzz. Details below.

Is it for you?

Who'll love it
Best for fans of giant monsters and bigger battles and people who love a story set somewhere strange. The scale is huge: humanity is very much the underdog. Liked Guardians of the Galaxy? This is a good next one.
The mood
Feel-good.
The pace
Moves at a clip, at 1 hr 30 min. Short enough for a weeknight.
What might put you off
  • No age rating on record, so check it first for young kids.
  • It's in Japanese, so expect subtitles (or a dub).
  • Probably not for a grown-ups-only night in.

Musashi is a 10 year old boy with big dreams. He wants to grow up to be an astronaut so he can fly through the stars and meet his hero Ultraman. His mother worries that Musashi daydreams too much, but his police officer father thinks a little bit of daydreaming never hurts anyone.
