Why it’s a Monday Morning Maybe

With a box office flop and almost no lasting buzz, this one could be a tough watch. Keep your phone handy.

Based on critics, audiences, awards, box office and buzz. Details below.

Is it for you?

Who'll love it
Right up the alley of people who'll be humming afterwards and anyone in the mood for a love story. The music is woven into the story, not just laid on top. Shelve it next to How to Marry a Millionaire.
The mood
Light and funny, romantic.
The pace
Zips along, at 1 hr 25 min. An easy one to fit in on a school night.
What might put you off
  • Rated PG. Worth a look first if you have very young kids.
  • It's in Portuguese, so expect subtitles (or a dub).
  • Skip it if you're after something serious tonight.

In the city of São Paulo, the routine of gravedigger apprentice Deodato changes when a new working girl arrives at the cemetery. Together, they must re-register the abandoned tombs, but strange events make the apprentice wonder about the consequences of messing with the dead.
