Why it’s a Monday Morning Maybe

With a box office flop and almost no lasting buzz, this one could be a tough watch. Keep your phone handy.

Based on critics, audiences, awards, box office and buzz. Details below.

Is it for you?

Who'll love it
Best for anime fans and people who love a story about friendship. It's anime, with all the big emotions and big action that comes with it. The friendships are the beating heart of it.
The mood
Feel-good.
The pace
Paced for all ages, at 29 min. An easy one to fit in on a school night.
What might put you off
  • No age rating on record, so check it first for young kids.
  • It's in Japanese, so expect subtitles (or a dub).
  • Skip it if you can't get past animation (your loss).

Riko, Midori, and Mai work in an Inn in Kyoto. They are training to become maikos (traditional female entertainers who sing, dance, and perform). A festival is coming and the three must start practicing.
