Weeknight Watch

Why it’s a Weeknight Watch

It made about 8 times its budget, but almost no lasting buzz and middling reviews (56% on Rotten Tomatoes) held it back. Fine if it's on; don't plan your night around it.

Based on critics, audiences, awards, box office and buzz. Details below.

Is it for you?

Who'll love it
Right up the alley of zombie fans and people who believe in big gestures. The undead are the backdrop; how people treat each other is the real story. Same wavelength as The Maze Runner. The chemistry carries it.
The mood
Scary.
The pace
Builds dread steadily, at 2 hr 7 min. The story isn't told in order, so keep your phone down.
What might put you off
  • Rated PG-13. Probably too much for younger kids.
  • It's in Chinese, so expect subtitles (or a dub).
  • Skip it if you prefer quiet, talky stories.

Three tomb raiders retire from their roles and move to New York to enjoy the rest of their lives. However, they are asked to resume duty in order to find out the reason behind the loss of a loved one.
