Why it’s a Monday Morning Maybe

With a box office flop and almost no lasting buzz, this one could be a tough watch. Keep your phone handy.

Based on critics, audiences, awards, box office and buzz. Details below.

Is it for you?

Who'll love it
One for martial arts fans and people who like their stories at full throttle. The fight choreography is a big part of the appeal. A good follow-up to Beast or Blades of the Guardians.
The mood
Exciting.
The pace
Takes its time with its characters, at 1 hr 17 min. Short enough for a weeknight.
What might put you off
  • It's in Chinese, so expect subtitles (or a dub).
  • Not for anyone who finds explosions tiring.

Rebels mobilize Japanese troops who are pillaging villages in China, resulting in a failed assassination attempt that has dire consequences for both sides. A Hong Kong re edit of the 1977 Korean film "사생문" (Gate of Life or Death) with added scenes from "Dragon On Fire" and "The Magnificent"
