Why it’s a Monday Morning Maybe

With a box office flop and almost no lasting buzz, this one could be a tough watch. Keep your phone handy.

Based on critics, audiences, awards, box office and buzz. Details below.

Is it for you?

Who'll love it
If you count yourself among people who start the Christmas movies early and readers who like to compare the book and the screen version, this one's for you. Made to be watched with the tree lit. Liked Shane or The Revenant? This is a good next one. Adapted from a book, so readers can compare notes.
The mood
Thoughtful and character-driven.
The pace
Lets scenes breathe, at 1 hr 36 min.
What might put you off
Not the one if you want explosions or easy laughs.

As Christmas approaches, a single mother struggles to raise her son and keep up the payments on her Oregon ranch, which is difficult since she's heavily in debt. But she's a tough cookie and proves that a steadfast attitude and an open heart go a long way in surviving the cold hearts and greed of the Scrooges around her.
