Why it’s a Monday Morning Maybe

With a box office flop and almost no lasting buzz, this one could be a tough watch. Keep your phone handy.

Based on critics, audiences, awards, box office and buzz. Details below.

Is it for you?

Who'll love it
Great for anyone who likes a story with a soundtrack worth keeping and anyone who likes corsets, castles and court intrigue. The music is woven into the story, not just laid on top. Sits nicely alongside Emma or Romeo + Juliet. The costumes and settings are a feast on their own.
The mood
Funny with heart, romantic.
The pace
Character-first and patient, at 1 hr 28 min. An easy one to fit in on a school night.
What might put you off
  • It's in Russian, so expect subtitles (or a dub).
  • Skip it if romance makes you roll your eyes.
