It earned strong reviews (72% on Rotten Tomatoes), though it had a box office flop and almost no lasting buzz. A safe bet when you want something reliable.
Based on critics, audiences, awards, box office and buzz. Details below. Is it for you?
- Who'll love it
- Best for anyone interested in what war does to people and people who enjoy a knot in their stomach. It puts you in the middle of the fighting, and doesn't let you forget the cost. Sits nicely alongside Thank You for Your Service or The Swimming Pool. Critics like it more than audiences, which usually means it takes its time or takes risks.
- The mood
- Tense.
- The pace
- Gives its people room to develop, at 1 hr 40 min.
- What might put you off
- It's in French, so expect subtitles (or a dub).
- Not the one if you want explosions or easy laughs.
An ex-soldier with PTSD is hired to protect the wife and child of a wealthy Lebanese businessman while he's out of town.
