Why it’s a Monday Morning Maybe

With a box office flop and almost no lasting buzz, this one could be a tough watch. Keep your phone handy.

Based on critics, audiences, awards, box office and buzz. Details below.

Is it for you?

Who'll love it
Best for music lovers and anyone who likes a story with emotional weight. The music is woven into the story, not just laid on top.
The mood
Thoughtful and character-driven.
The pace
Character-first and patient, at 1 hr 29 min. Short enough for a weeknight.
What might put you off
  • It's in another language, so expect subtitles (or a dub).
  • Made in 1972: an older pace and style.
  • Skip it if you need something light and fast tonight.

An electro-technician falls in love with a bar singer, but her job environment, full of alcohol, despair and tired truck drivers, causes nothing but troubles for him.
