Why it’s a Weeknight Watch

With soft box office and little lasting buzz, it's a mixed bag. Fine if it's on; don't plan your night around it.

Based on critics, audiences, awards, box office and buzz. Details below.

Who'll love it: If you count yourself among people who like their stories with a little heart-flutter and anyone who likes a story with emotional weight, this one's for you. A good pick for a cozy night in. Liked Jab Tak Hai Jaan or Dil Chahta Hai? This is a good next one.
The mood: Warm and romantic.
The pace: Takes its time with its characters, at 2 hr 18 min.
What might put you off: It's in Hindi, so expect subtitles (or a dub).
Made in 1948: an older pace and style.
Skip it if romance makes you roll your eyes.

A man obsessed over two things, the theater and a childhood friend, recounts his life story to his new bride.
