Why it’s a Monday Morning Maybe

With a box office flop and almost no lasting buzz, this one could be a tough watch. Keep your phone handy.

Based on critics, audiences, awards, box office and buzz. Details below.

Is it for you?

Who'll love it
If you count yourself among anyone who's ever talked to their pet and western fans, this one's for you. An animal steals a fair few scenes. Fans of True Grit or Hud should feel right at home.
The mood
Thoughtful and character-driven.
The pace
Character-first and patient, at 1 hr 6 min. An easy one to fit in on a school night.
What might put you off
  • Made in 1949: an older pace and style.
  • Not the one if you want explosions or easy laughs.

A young man with a love of horses, Scott Jordan, lives on the family ranch with his uncle Bill. When he buys a wild stallion from his cousin, Scott names the horse Midnight and does his best to tame him. But when the sheriff suspects the stallion was stolen and his cousin's plan to get rid of the horse ends with a man being trampled, Scott must prove Midnight acted in self-defense before his uncle destroys him.
