Why it’s a Monday Morning Maybe

With a box office flop and almost no lasting buzz, this one could be a tough watch. Keep your phone handy.

Based on critics, audiences, awards, box office and buzz. Details below.

Is it for you?

Who'll love it
Best for people who love a story where everyone knows everyone and music lovers. The small-town setting is half the character. If you loved Local Hero or The Zone of Interest, start here. The music is woven into the story, not just laid on top.
The mood
Funny with heart, intense.
The pace
Quiet, then quietly devastating, at 1 hr 25 min. An easy one to fit in on a school night.
What might put you off
  • It's in Spanish, so expect subtitles (or a dub).
  • Made in 1970: an older pace and style.
  • Skip it if you're after something serious tonight.

Agapito, leader of the revolutionary movement of his state, comes to a town, kills all the federales, and gets a girl who was promised to him for his heroic deeds.
