Why it’s a Monday Morning Maybe

With a box office flop and almost no lasting buzz, this one could be a tough watch. Keep your phone handy.

Based on critics, audiences, awards, box office and buzz. Details below.

Is it for you?

Who'll love it
A natural pick for anyone with a complicated family (so, everyone) and anyone who wants a laugh. Family ties get tested in ways that ring true. Set in the 1960s, and it looks the part.
The mood
Light and funny.
The pace
Zips along, at 1 hr 30 min. Short enough for a weeknight.
What might put you off
  • It's in another language, so expect subtitles (or a dub).
  • Made in 1966: an older pace and style.
  • Skip it if you're after something serious tonight.

Polydoros Lagos is a janitor in an ordinary Athens' block in the 1960s who's struggling to serve as many of the building's residents as possible in order to save some money to help his six sisters (and his aunt) get married, since this is the only way he can finally get married too.
