Why it’s a Monday Morning Maybe

With a box office flop and little lasting buzz, this one could be a tough watch. Keep your phone handy.

Based on critics, audiences, awards, box office and buzz. Details below.

Is it for you?

Who'll love it
Right up the alley of people who love a good family story and readers who like to compare the book and the screen version. Anyone with siblings or parents will recognize something here. Liked Wuthering Heights? This is a good next one. Adapted from a book, so readers can compare notes.
The mood
Warm and romantic.
The pace
Character-first and patient, at 2 hr.
What might put you off
  • It's in another language, so expect subtitles (or a dub).
  • Not the one if you want explosions or easy laughs.

Carmina begins to doubt her future with poor Gabriel when another suitor dazzles her with expensive gifts. Overhearing Carmina's sentiments, Gabriel is heartbroken and goes away to return a wealthy man to prove his worthiness to Carmina.
