Why it’s a Monday Morning Maybe

With a box office flop and almost no lasting buzz, this one could be a tough watch. Keep your phone handy.

Based on critics, audiences, awards, box office and buzz. Details below.

Is it for you?

Who'll love it
One for people who love a good growing-up story and spy-story fans. Small moments carry real weight here, the way they do when you're young. Liked The Perks of Being a Wallflower or Moonlight? This is a good next one. Nobody is quite who they seem.
The mood
Thoughtful and character-driven.
The pace
Lets scenes breathe, at 1 hr 32 min.
What might put you off
  • It's in German, so expect subtitles (or a dub).
  • Skip it if you need something light and fast tonight.

A group of normal 14-year-old teenagers at a secondary school in Zürich with the normal yearnings for love and acceptance. But the power of social media, with its high-gloss selfies and perpetual pressure towards cooler and sexier, increasingly forces the kids to deny their true feelings. So a tragedy runs its course, one in which it is almost impossible to differentiate between perpetrator and victim, guilt and innocence.
