Why it’s a Monday Morning Maybe

With almost no lasting buzz and soft box office, this one could be a tough watch. Keep your phone handy.

Based on critics, audiences, awards, box office and buzz. Details below.

Is it for you?

Who'll love it
A natural pick for fans of giant monsters and bigger battles and people who love a story set somewhere strange. The scale is huge: humanity is very much the underdog. Liked Guardians of the Galaxy or Pacific Rim? This is a good next one.
The mood
Feel-good.
The pace
Moves at a clip, at 1 hr 37 min.
What might put you off
  • No age rating on record, so check it first for young kids.
  • It's in Japanese, so expect subtitles (or a dub).
  • Skip it if you like your stories firmly grounded in the real world.

The fairies from Infant Island discover a lost city, as well as a giant monster that is attracted to environmental calamities.
