Why it’s a Monday Morning Maybe

With a box office flop and almost no lasting buzz, this one could be a tough watch. Keep your phone handy.

Based on critics, audiences, awards, box office and buzz. Details below.

Is it for you?

Who'll love it: Tailor-made for people who like stories about real, flawed people. Best on a quiet night when you're in the mood to feel something.
The mood: Thoughtful and character-driven.
The pace: Gives its people room to develop, at 1 hr 34 min.
What might put you off: It's in Turkish, so expect subtitles (or a dub).
Not the one if you want explosions or easy laughs.

An ordinary day in the megacity of Istanbul: Ten-year-old Cemo sells paper tissues in the streets, Hayat is controlled by her husband and transsexual Ebru sells her body. All three have a secret love and they do everything that satisfies their longing, if only for a moment. An authentic, delicate and unsettling story about love and death and the Turkish society at the beginning of the 21st century.
