Is it for you?

Who'll love it
Made for horror fans and history buffs. If you loved Good Boy or The Green Mile, start here. Critics rate it higher than audiences do, so it rewards patience more than it chases thrills.
The mood
Scary, intense.
The pace
Takes its time with its characters, at 1 hr 24 min.
What might put you off
  • Rated PG-13: peril. Probably too much for younger kids.
  • It's in another language, so expect subtitles (or a dub).
  • Audiences were cooler on it than critics.

After Shideh's building is hit by a missile during the Iran-Iraq War, a superstitious neighbor suggests that the missile was cursed and might be carrying malevolent Middle-Eastern spirits. She becomes convinced a supernatural force within the building is attempting to possess her daughter Dorsa, and she has no choice but to confront these forces if she is to save her daughter and herself.
