Sunday Safe Betearly ratingWhy it’s a Sunday Safe Bet
Critics loved it (100% on Rotten Tomatoes), though it had a box office flop and almost no lasting buzz. A safe bet when you want something reliable.
Based on critics, audiences, awards, box office and buzz. Details below. Is it for you?
- Who'll love it
- Right up the alley of anyone who remembers how big everything felt at sixteen and anyone who likes to be kept guessing. It gets the awkwardness and the high stakes of being young. A good follow-up to Missing. Critics like it more than audiences, which usually means it takes its time or takes risks.
- The mood
- Tense.
- The pace
- Takes its time with its characters, at 1 hr 28 min. An easy one to fit in on a school night.
- What might put you off
- Audiences were cooler on it than critics.
- Not the one if you want explosions or easy laughs.
Feeling confined by their small town and overbearing parents, Annie and Jules hatch a scheme of running away. The only issue is, they need the money to get there. Jules suggests the couple try webcam modeling. Although she’s nervous at first, Annie can’t argue when the money starts rolling in. But as the girls soon find out, consequences can blindside you. Sometimes violently.
