Weeknight Watch

Why it’s a Weeknight Watch

With a weak 5.2 out of 10 from audiences and almost no lasting buzz, it's a mixed bag. Fine if it's on; don't plan your night around it.

Based on critics, audiences, awards, box office and buzz. Details below.

Is it for you?

Who'll love it: Made for anyone who wants a laugh. If you loved Burn After Reading, start here. Critics rate it higher than audiences do, so it rewards patience more than it chases thrills.
The mood: Provocative satire that goes after everyone.
The pace: Takes its time with its characters, at 2 hr 3 min.
What might put you off: It's in French, so expect subtitles (or a dub).
Audiences were cooler on it than critics.

Guillaume Canet is told by a young co-star that he's no longer Rock'n Roll and can't sell films anymore. He then tries to prove her wrong and gets help from his girlfriend, Marion Cotillard.
