Why it’s a Monday Morning Maybe

With almost no lasting buzz and soft box office, this one could be a tough watch. Keep your phone handy.

Based on critics, audiences, awards, box office and buzz. Details below.

Is it for you?

Who'll love it: One for people who love a good growing-up story and anyone with a complicated family (so, everyone). Small moments carry real weight here, the way they do when you're young. A good follow-up to Menace II Society. Family ties get tested in ways that ring true.
The mood: Dark and gritty.
The pace: Character-first and patient, at 1 hr 21 min. Short enough for a weeknight.
What might put you off: It's in Spanish, so expect subtitles (or a dub).
Skip it if you like your heroes clean-cut.

When his cross-dressing teenage son suffers a brutally violent attack, a mannequin-factory manager desperately seeks help and, when none can be found, is forced to take matters into his own hands.
