Sunday Safe Betearly rating

Why it’s a Sunday Safe Bet

It's still drawing plenty of interest, though it had soft box office. A safe bet when you want something reliable.

Based on critics, audiences, awards, box office and buzz. Details below.

Is it for you?

Who'll love it: One for fans of prison dramas and fans of a good courtroom showdown. The walls close in, and so does the tension. Fans of Walk the Line or Past Lives should feel right at home. The best scenes are battles fought with words.
The mood: Warm and romantic.
The pace: A big, patient story, at 2 hr 48 min. It jumps around in time, so stay with it.
What might put you off: It's long: 2 hr 48 min.
It's in Hindi, so expect subtitles (or a dub).
Made in 1951: an older pace and style.
Not the one if you want explosions or easy laughs.

A petty thief is put on trial for the attempted murder of a lawyer. Through a series of flashbacks, the intertwining lives of the thief, the lawyer, and the thief's defense lawyer are illustrated.
