Why it’s a Weeknight Watch

With a box office flop and middling reviews (49% on Rotten Tomatoes), it's a mixed bag. Fine if it's on; don't plan your night around it.

Based on critics, audiences, awards, box office and buzz. Details below.

Is it for you?

Who'll love it: Made for crime-drama fans. If you loved Boys Don't Cry or The Silence of the Lambs, start here.
The mood: Dark and gritty.
The pace: Takes its time with its characters, at 1 hr 33 min.
What might put you off: Nothing much for most grown-ups.

It’s 2006, YouTube is in its infancy, and internet porn is still behind a paywall. Taking the stage name Brent Corrigan, a fresh-faced, wannabe adult video performer is molded into a star by Stephen, a closeted gay porn mogul who runs the skin flick empire Cobra Video from his seemingly ordinary suburban home.
